Rewind about three weeks to Spring Break for the boys. Even if it was only 90 miles, we traveled
south to Chicago for a long weekend and it was a super fun get-away! We packed a lot into three days and had our
fill of walking and Uber rides to get around.
We took the Amtrak which was an awesome idea so we didn’t have to worry
about driving. Annie greeted us at our
hotel (where she works) and she made sure we were well taken care of on
vacation.

We walked a lot but we also got to see a lot of the city
that way too. The weather was chilly but
bearable with a hat and mittens. We went
to the John Hancock building on Friday where we could view the Chicago skyline on
the 96th floor. It was really
cool. Then we met Annie and Reid for
dinner and headed back to our hotel to swim.
The highlight of any vacation for the boys is the swimming pool!

On Saturday, we went to the Science and Industry Museum. A super neat museum but I felt like it was
not as kid-friendly as I hoped for Alex and Sean. After the museum, we grabbed lunch and the
Shake Shack and checked out Millennium Park.
We hit up Dylan’s Candy Bar which was on our list of places to go and it
did not disappoint. Another highlight
for the boys! Then we made our way to
Navy Pier and had some fun in the Fun House Maze.

We left Navy Pier and took an Uber to Annie and Reid’s
apartment where we relaxed a little before dinner. Alex and Sean couldn’t get over the Uber
service and how strangers picked us up and dropped us off. I think we took five different Ubers on
Saturday and the boys started to rank which driver they liked the best. We went to eat dinner at Roots where they
make handmade pizza and it was delicious!!
Then it was back to our hotel where we had to squeeze a little pool time
in before bed.

On Sunday, we woke up and went for a 10 minute walk to
Maggie Daley Park. The boys didn’t want to
go at first because, yes, it was more walking!
But it was the last place I wanted to check out so we went and they were
pleasantly surprised by all the cool play sets.
Then it was time to pack up and head over to the White Sox game. It may have been the coldest baseball game we’ve
been to but it was still neat for Alex and Sean to check out another ball park
stadium.

It
was short but sweet and it actually felt like a mini-vacation in those three
days. It was so nice to see Chicago and
spend time with Annie and Reid. It was
the perfect way to end Spring Break 2018.
It wasn't your typical "Spring Break" as it felt and looked more like winter this year with the snow on the ground. But the boys had a great week off from school and Dad had some fun things planned for them. They went to Sky Zone one day and made it to their first Brewers game of the season. They've been getting lucky with players throwing them balls to take home at the games which gets them excited!
