Happy Halloween!

I love Fall and all the fun things that come along with this time of year.  The cousins got together for their annual Trick or Treating around our neighborhood.  It was pure joy on the kids’ faces as they ran from house to house collecting candy.  Spiked apple cider, Octoberfest, caramel apples and pumpkin cake made for a delicious night!

We carved our pumpkins just in time for Halloween this year.  The boys did a great job of cleaning out their pumpkins and designing the spooky faces!  Alex and Sean had a blast at their school parties on Friday and I was able to help out in the classroom.  The kids paraded around the school in their costumes and then played fun games and ate yummy treats with their friends!

We finished up the last soccer games this past weekend.  Sean’s coach surprised his team with a pizza party at the last practice and Sean received his participant medal.  He was so excited!!  He got another goal on Saturday and kicked the ball from about half field to score!  It was awesome!!!  Alex had a couple more goals to add to his stats and he is starting to learn the importance of passing the ball to his teammates as well so I was very proud of him!

Birthday Parties!!!

We had a weekend of birthday celebrations with soccer and baseball sprinkled in there as well.  Tyler celebrated his 7th birthday with a baseball themed party.  Ballpark hotdogs, nachos, popcorn, pretzels, cotton candy and licorice for everyone to enjoy!  Anna even came around as the beer lady!!!  Then we headed south to Illinois to celebrate baby Jack turning one years old with a "Cubs are going to the World Series" party!!!  Woo-hoo!  Lots of good food and sweet treats to celebrate!  Super fun and exciting weekend!!!

Happy 1st Birthday!!!

We are taking in every last day of Fall we can get and enjoying this beautiful weather!  Bike rides, jumping in leaves and finishing up baseball and soccer games are keeping us busy!  Sean had a fun playdate at the Big Backyard on Friday with his classmates at Holy Apostles.  It was great to meet some of the 4k parents and see Sean in action playing with his new friends!

Fun Fall Day!

 

I also got to chaperone Alex's field trip to The Stout Farm in Germantown.  The farm is self-sustaining and Farmer Jim runs it on his own.  The kids learned about gardening and nutrition and had a tour of the barn and animals.  We went on a hayride and Farmer Jim served up some of the best burgers for lunch with meat from his farm. 

 

The 2nd graders worked hard on a project in social studies class leading up to the field trip called "Save, Spend, Share."  They helped Mom and Dad out at home with chores and had to decide which bucket to put their chore money in every day.  Together they "shared" about $350 with Farmer Jim to help with his farm and say thank you for such a fun day!  Great job!!!

Linder's Pumpkin Farm

We had a fun afternoon at Linder's Pumpkin Farm on this warm Fall afternoon!  Alex and Sean had a great time playing in the “backyard.”  The slides are always a favorite!  We made our way through the corn maze despite the muddy path.  The boys played some games and won candy and gourds to take home.  We also tried pumpkin bowling and picked out some great looking pumpkins to carve at home.

Which way to go?  Rock, paper, scissors....

So we let the boys try pumpkin bowling and Alex goes first.  All of a sudden we look over and Alex is winding up like he's pitching a baseball and throws the pumpkin as hard as he can at the bowling pins.  Knocked most of the pins down and just about gave the worker lady a heart attack.  We explained to him he has to roll the pumpkin, and he says in all seriousness, "But I'm not a bowler, I'm a baseball player!"  That kid!!!

As we are picking out our pumpkins, Sean yells as loud as he can, "Hey Alex, come over here, this pumpkin looks like a butt!"  This is then followed up with a lot of laughter of course.  Those boys!  Then I tell Alex to stop and smile for one more picture as you can see below.  He complies and then says, "Are you done yet, Mom, you are really starting to embarrass me!"  LOL!

Two perfect pumpkins for two perfect little boys!

 It was a beautiful Fall day on Saturday and a perfect day for a wedding!  We drove down to Batavia, IL to celebrate the wedding of my college friend/roommate and soccer teammate.  It's been awhile since we've gotten together so it was so good to see her and share her special day!  She made for a beautiful bride and was glowing all night long!  I couldn't be happier for my friend!
