So it starts...

If you count a couple drops of tinkle in the toliet as going potty for the first time, then my baby went pee on the potty for the first time!  Yay!!  We haven't been trying to potty train just yet but when Alex shows an interest, we let him sit on the toliet and see what happens.  We've probably tried this only three times.  But today, he actually did it and I couldn't be prouder:)  He actually gets it and knows what he is supposed to do.  We probably won't start potty training hard core until this summer when Dave has off from teaching and we can give Alex our full attention all day long but today was a start.  Way to go, Alex!

Oh wow, I think I just tinkled:)

Discovery World

We signed up today for a family membership at Discovery World that Grandma Michna won in a silent auction (Thanks Grandma!).  Many of the exhibits were for older kids but Alex loved the big acquarium and enjoyed running around with the other kids.  He even got to touch a big fish!  The membership will be nice to have this summer when Daddy takes Alex on their lakefront walks:)  Then we headed over to the Milwaukee Market where Alex indulged in his first corn dog.  Yum!  We couldn't leave there without dessert, of course.  What a fun way to spend the day!

Family fun at Discovery World!

Daddy showing Alex all the fishies!

Oh Wow, Mommy!  I touched a fish!!

Look at that one.  Cool!!!!!!

Of all the cookies, Alex picked the giant Oreo at the Market.

Oh Baby!

We're half way there!  We had our 20 week ultrasound appointment today.  Everything looks normal...ahh, sigh of relief!  The baby is measuring a week ahead of schedule right now.  Maybe this will mean I won't go a week past my due date like I did with Alex!

My blood pressure was good and the baby's heartbeat was at 150.  The baby was very "photogenic" and cooperated wonderfully during the ultrasound so the nurse was able to take the pictures and measurements she needed for the doctor.  We counted 5 fingers, saw the baby yawn and watched the 4 chambers of the little heart beating away.  It was quite a sight!

As for the gender...sorry everybody, we will have to wait 20 more weeks to find that out!  When we ask Alex if Mommy is having a boy or a girl, he says "girl."

This is as close to a belly shot as you will see from me:)
I wonder if the shirt color is indicative of what we are having!

Rain, rain, go away..

Dave was out of town this past weekend with coaching the MSOE baseball team so it was just Alex and me.  We had a couple days of nice weather so we made it to the park on Friday and Saturday.  No such luck today with all this rain!  It was a long weekend not having Daddy around but we kept busy and had fun together.  Alex had a playdate with Tyler on Saturday night and then we went to Papa & Nana's house for dinner tonight.  I enjoyed my little Alex man but we sure missed Daddy and we're glad he's back home.

Ahhh, smell that fresh air!

My little climbing machine!

Spring is almost here!

We've been anxiously waiting for the weather to warm up enough to enjoy some fresh air outside without freezing our buns off. Alex couldn't have been more happy this past week. We were able to go for a couple walks around the neighborhood and even to the park which was less muddy than I thought it would be. I think the park will our second home this summer. Alex loves the freedom of running, jumping and climbing on everything.  He's a lot more independent this summer and it's so much fun to watch him just explore the beautiful outdoors.  Spring isn't quite here yet but it's right around the corner and we're all looking forward to the changing season!

Whee!  This is a fun slide, Mommy!

It's more fun to climb up the slide than go down.

Bet you can't catch me!

Kisses for Mr. Squirrel :)

This is a typical day in the Michna household -

Family Time

Alex spent the day with Grandpa & Grandma Beyer on Thursday and Friday since his daycare was closed.  He gets SO excited about seeing "Papa" and "Nana" and asks about them daily so it was a real treat for him.  He had their full attention each day and was spoiled like usual.  I was told Alex was a good boy for them and napped really good too which is always a bonus.  Alex goes to Aunt Jenny's tomorrow and is looking forward to his playdate with Logan.  Thanks to everyone for helping us out this week!

Hey "Papa" I'm all ready to help you in your workshop.
Daddy has been busy painting some rooms at our house.  Alex was helping turn his red room into a blue room for a refreshing new look!  It turned out beautiful!!!
We celebrated Auntie Joan's 50th birthday this afternoon with yummy pizza and cake.

Pajama Party with Hailey and Logan!

Cousin pile up!  Where do they get all their energy!?

Miss Hailey & her crazy boys:)
Alex has been teething like crazy the past week or so.  One of his bottom teeth finally poked through and another one will any day now.  I think some teeth on top are making their way too so Alex has been a bit under the weather.  He's been more tired and is constantly drooling.  He's hardly got an appetite for anything.  Popsicles (aka "I-Co") are the only thing that gives him a little relief.
