Brewers on Deck

Dave took Alex & Sean to Brewers on Deck today to hang with some of the players.  The boys were so excited to meet some of the players and get autographs.  They didn't see or do as much as they would have liked because of the crazy crowds this year.  But they did manage to get an autograph from Jacob Barnes and a cool photo with the newbie, Christian Yelich.

Getting Barnes' autograph at Brewers on Deck!

Welcome to the team, Yelich!
This is my favorite picture of the day!  It's always nice running into Jerry Augustine because he's always so personal and down to earth!  Augie was Dave's college coach at UWM so they have their own share of stories!  But the boys think it's pretty cool since Augie was a starting pitcher for the Brewers and a World Series participant in 1982.  He's truly a class act!

Basketball

And I'm back!  Where does the time go!?!  Alex started basketball right before Christmas and continues to play through the winter.  He is on a team with four other friends from school and he is really enjoying it.  I can tell he's much improved from last year.  He's a solid kid on the court which is why he's especially good at defense and rebounding but he also scores buckets too.  It's fun watching him play!

Let's go #20!

He shoots and scores!!!

Leading the pack down the court!

Nice defense, Alex!
Sean impresses me every week with what he learns at school.  He is making huge progress with his reading and sight words.  I'm always amazed at how quickly his brain absorbs information.  Next up at home is to learn how to tie his shoe laces!

Sean is such a sweet kid and here is just one example.  The other day, Alex got into trouble because he was annoying Sean and was being extra sassy.  So we took away Alex's treats for the next several days.  Alex felt bad, of course.  Then I look over and Sean has tears in his eyes.  He says to me, "I didn't mean to get Alex into trouble.  Take away my treats instead of Alex's."  Seriously, this kid just fills my heart!

Playdate with Brady!

Enjoying the 50 degree day in January!

So we decided to try out the Escape Room this past weekend and see if the Beyer Family could break out!  It was an absolute blast!  We did end up breaking out with seven minutes left on the clock which is pretty remarkable since only 25% of groups escape.  The facilitator told us we were the most intelligent group she's seen but we were the biggest Hurricane that she's ever seen, meaning we left the biggest mess!  Ha!  With two detectives in our group, they started stacking the items we didn't need in a pile making sure every last piece was looked over and scanned for clues.  There was no doubt we were escaping!  Such a fun night out!!!
Way to go, Hurricane's!!!

Happy New Year!

We wrapped up the year with some fun activities with the boys and made the most of our last vacation days together at home.  We watched the Milwaukee Wave play soccer on New Years Eve.  We had a great time at the game.  The worst part was the walk downtown from our car in zero degree temperatures!  Brrr!  Alex and Sean wanted to stay up until midnight but they could barely keep their eyes open at 10:30 so we decided to celebrate with New York City instead at 11:00 PM.

Dad had a fun break with the boys.  They enjoyed playing with all of their neat toys from Christmas.  They spent one day at Chuck E Cheese playing games and winning prizes.  I spent the last day of vacation home with the boys so we went to Helium to burn off some energy.  The remodeled the place and now they have a lot of Ninja Warrior activities which were pretty cool for the boys.  I think there favorite was The Wipeout but Sean also tried the ropes course. He was the smallest one in the maze and ran into some trouble but kept his cool and made it through.  I was so proud of him!
