Last Day of Summer

This was the best summer yet for Dave and the boys and it is sadly coming to an end.  Dave starts back at work this week and the boys have their first day of school tomorrow.  Alex is super excited to start 2nd grade and Sean is nervous but ready for 4K.  I am still trying to wrap my head around it!

I love my sweet boys!!!

I am so grateful to have Dave home all summer.  He took such good care of Alex and Sean and to say they had fun together would be a huge understatement!  So many adventures and so many laughs!  He made sure the house was clean, kids were fed and groceries were stocked for me.  I could certainly get used to this treatment!  It was a nice break for me this summer as well!
These two had such a fun summer!

Seanie starts soccer!!!  I can't wait to cheer him on!

Dave and the boys went to cheer on the Brewers with Grandma Michna this past week.  Alex happened to spot one of his baseball idols from across the stadium - Zack Hample, the Baseball Collector.  He has snagged 9,234 baseballs at 52 different major league stadiums since 1990.  Alex is so intrigued with this guy and watches him so much on YouTube videos that his voice has become like another member of our family in our house.  So Dave didn't hesitate to introduce himself to Zack and grab a photo with the boys.  It made Alex's night!!!

Thanks for a super fun summer!  Best. Dad. Ever.

Dave's hobby this summer includes taking pictures - mostly of different kinds of birds and the night sky.  He has self taught himself the ins and outs of our Nikon camera and has gotten really good at it.  He will sometimes add a picture to his Twitter account and this past week, Mark Baden with Channel 12, commented on his photo and retweeted it.  He also put it on the nightly news for all to see.  That was a nice surprise!  Good work Dave!!!

Zoo a la Carte

We spent the afternoon enjoying the music and food at Zoo a la Carte today.  Alex brought his friend, Alex, from school and the boys had a great time together.  We checked out the animals and enjoyed the train ride, playground and shared a yummy funnel cake.  It was a beautiful day to spend at the zoo!
Hanging out by the Elephant!
Checking out the animals at the zoo :)
We had to go to Wirth Pool one more time this summer before they closed.  It's been our home away from home with the heat we've had all summer.  The cousins all were able to come so the kids were on cloud nine again.  It's got something for everyone - slides, diving board, sand pit, playground and wading pool.   The kids love it here!

One last pool day!

Great Wolf Lodge

I couldn't have asked for a more fun birthday and the celebration was right up my alley!  We went to Portillo's for dinner on Friday night because I've been wanting to try it out ever since they opened.  So delicious and such a fun night with my boys!!!

Celebrating my birthday with my boys :)

The burgers and shake were sooooo good!!!
My parents were invited to a wedding in Wisconsin Dells and wanted to make a fun family weekend out of it so invited the whole family.  They were staying at the Great Wolf Lodge after all which is one of favorite water parks!  I cannot even explain how hyped the cousins get to see each other; much less spend two whole days together at a waterpark!

They were all fish in the water and dare devils on the water slides!  We definitely got our fill of swimming this weekend.  Alex said it feels like he is still in the wave pool when he went to bed!  We even got Grandpa and Grandma on some of the water slides including the Howlin' Tornado!!!  So many fun memories that will last forever!  Thanks to Papa and Nana for a fantastic weekend!
Best friends for life!

Hanging with Miss Katelyn :)

Alex woke up at 6:00 AM which is his usual wakeup time.  I had to keep him occupied but quiet so Sean and Dad could keeping sleep.  So we bummed around the hotel and finally ended up walking over to Panera for breakfast.  I just love our one-on-one conversation and cherish those moments we have together!
Nobody awake but us so we were having some fun!

We love the Great Wolf Lodge!

Sean and Tyler were buddies on the slides!

All the kids loved the wave pool!!!

Alex and Logan havin' fun together :)

State Fair

We had a great time at State Fair on Saturday.  There's always so much to do and crazy things to see.  We joined the crowd of people in the street and watched as a man put himself inside a huge balloon along with four other bystanders.  Crazy!  We got our flavored milk and the boys went down the giant slide!  Our favorite part of the day was the Comic Juggler.  We sat front row so the boys were practically part of the show.  He was so good and so funny!  I don't think I've seen the boys smile so big or laugh so hard!!!

Cooling off with a slushy before the show!

So many laughs!
Nothing beats a cold popsicle while waiting in line!

Watching the crazy balloon man!
Four different flavors of milk!
Seanie loves the root beer milk!

Giant Slide!!!!
We took the boys miniature golfing over the weekend and had a great time.  It was Sean's first time mini-golfing.  Sean looked more like a hockey player trying to get his ball in the hole and Alex looked like Happy Gilmore swinging his club but it was fun to watch!  Dad wins the prize for the only hole-in-one and the least amount of do-overs!

Giving Sean some pointers :)

So much fun with my boys!

Daddy Daycare was in full force today.  Dave took the boys to State Fair to bum around for a bit this morning.  Then it was off to their first session of swim lessons.  Sean's first time with Swim America and Alex has made his way up to Level 8.  Then they ended their busy day with the last night of Martial Arts where their instructors gave them both an outstanding review!

My tough Karate boys!

Sean turns FIVE!

Seanie turned five years old and we celebrated with our favorite Superhero on Saturday!  The cousins enjoyed dressing up like superheroes and had a blast together!  Sean woke up so excited for his party and it was fun to watch the pure joy on his face all day as he played with his cousins.  He lights up our world with that great big smile and playful personality.  He is such an easy-going kid that everyone loves!! Happy Birthday to my little Batman!  We are so proud of you!!! XOXO
