Final Days of Summer!

This week is always a tough one for us as we transition into school mode for Daddy & Alex and back to daycare for Seanie.  My mornings are changing too with getting myself ready for work as well as getting Alex and Sean changed, fed with lunch/snack packed and out the door in the morning...and on time!  Dave’s offer to be a stay at home Dad isn’t sounding so bad anymore!

Anyway, Dave was invited to enjoy an afternoon on Muskego Lake at Dan & Nikki Brenton’s new house and the boys had a blast jumping off the pier.  Then on Saturday, we celebrated our friend, Ryan, turning three with a big Mickey Mouse bash which was tons of fun!
So much fun on the lake!
Happy Birthday to Ryan!

Enjoying some birthday cake!

We also squeezed a day trip in to Little Amerricka and the boys rode the rides from start to close practically.  Alex was able to go on just about everything and, surprisingly, Sean was able to go on a lot more than I thought including a wooden rollercoaster and the Tilt-A-Whirl.  His favorite, though, are always those cars that go around in a circle.  It's the simple things with Sean!  Alex and I went on the scrambler together and we laughed hysterically the entire ride!  We had a great time!!
Lovin' the rides at Little Amerricka!

Havin' fun on the rollercoaster!

Sean loved this ride so much he asked Daddy if he could buy the car so we could take it home with us!

All aboard!  Choo-choo train time!

I wanted one last day of fun before Alex went back to school so since our pool day was rained out, we went to Kids in Motion instead with cousins, Tyler and Anna.  I think the boys had a super fun summer filled with many adventures.  Once I get past my nerves this week with school starting, I look forward to a very fun school year!

Katelyn's Baptism

We joined Miss Katelyn in a special celebration as she was baptized today at Holy Apostles.  Katelyn was a perfect little angel in church and didn’t make one peep when blessed with the holy water.  Then it was party time at the Brenton house.  It was a beautiful afternoon to sit outside and relax.  The kids played incredibly well with each other.  Congrats to you baby Katelyn!  You looked radiant in your white gown.  We love you!

You've been caught!

A huge milestone happened this week in our house.  Alex learned how to ride a bike without training wheels in a matter of 10 minutes.  I’m regretting we didn’t try this earlier in the summer, but regardless, Alex now loves riding his bike!

We were on a family bike ride this evening just riding around the neighborhood.  A car was following for a block and suddenly we look back and see blue and red lights flashing….it was a squad car and we were getting pulled over…on our bikes!  The police officer gets out of his car and walks over to us and sternly says, “You’ve been caught…wearing your bike helmet.”  Then he hands Alex and Sean a “ticket” for a free ice cream cone at McDonald’s.  How awesome is that!?!  Police officers never get the recognition they deserve for all the good that they do in our community and for keeping us safe.  Thank you Mr. Police Officer!  You taught my kids a lesson they will never forget!

Seanie's ride!
We’ve had a busy week making the most of these final weeks of summer.  We rented a four person bike and rode around Frame Park on Wednesday and had a blast.  We walked around the Zoo a la Carte on Friday and couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful night!  We rode the train and the boys were able to touch some sting rays.  Then, Grandma treated us to a day at Hoyt pool this afternoon and we were there for almost four hours soaking up the sun, sand and water.  We had a ball!

Hangin' at the Zoo a la Carte!

Bear Den Petting Zoo

The boys and I had a fun weekend together while Daddy was away in Chicago.  Papa and Nana joined us and we checked out the Bear Den Petting Zoo in Watertown.  It was a beautiful day and we had fun looking at all the animals.  My favorite was when the baby lemur sat on Alex’s head.  Seanie loved the kangaroo and we all felt the soft fur.  The tractor ride was a highlight too!

Bday Party / State Fair

This year I succumbed to Dave’s request and threw Seanie a Mr. Bean party for his 3rd birthday.  Who’s Mr. Bean?  Mr. Bean is a silly, unusual British man that is part of a very popular cartoon show in the UK.  Sean has loved Mr. Bean since he was one and we have watched every episode 1,000+ times so we thought the theme summed him up pretty well.  Seanie couldn’t have been more excited to share his special day with all the people he loves so much!

Sean had a very fun day and was spoiled by everyone’s love with kisses and presents.  He wore his Mr. Bean shirt proudly and blew out the candles on his Mr. Bean cake.  He loved all of his gifts including a huge dump truck, water guns, Lego train, remote control car, a Bop bag, magnetic tiles, clothes and even a Mr. Bean toy car just to name a few.  What a lucky boy you are, Sean!  Happy birthday my sweet little boy!!
Look at all my presents!
Happy Birthday to Sean!

Silly faces!

Cool monster truck, Sean!

We finished off my mini-vacation with going to the WI State Fair today.  We had fun and even ran into Papa & Nana with our cousins, Tyler, Anna & Katelyn.  We won some prizes at the Jelly Belly tent and went down the giant slide.  We had balloon swords made for the boys and tried out some of the yummy food.  We crammed as much as we could in before the rain started to fall.

Checking out the Jelly Belly tent!
